About serial and boxes wurde erstellt von cruz
Hi,

i'm new on the forum. My name is Cruz and I am french.

I read this site since 1 hour and nowhere I read about serial numbers, and I have some questions :

1/ How can I be sure to have the real serial number for the game I just bid on ebay ? (see question 3 also)

2/ Is there any way to know wether the box is the original box of the game I just bid on ebay or not ?

3/ Is there anywhere a document that explain serial number (eg : 443xxxxx is for MC-25 ...) ?

Thanks :GW2:

Hello Cruz and welcome here

I never have heard of serial numbers beeing faked. If a Game&Watch game has a serial number, you can be very sure it's genuine.

Yes there is. Have a look at the articles here: www.gameandwatch.ch/en/gaw-fakes/how-to-...eandwatch-fakes.html

Unfortunately I don't have such information yet.

Thank you for your answer.
I already read the "how to recognize a fake". My question 2 was about serial corresponding (between the box and the game itself).

I found this explication (rule ?) somewhere :
for eg : behind the game itself, we see : 07304259
nintendo seems to use this format
they take the game number and remove the 1st number (the zero) , they then get the last number ( the 8 ) and take 1 away and move it to the front( thats where the 8 comes from) they then take the 2nd last number ( the 5 ) and add 1 on ( to become 8 ) this number stays in place.
so printed serial inside the box (on the flap) would be (for our eg) : 8730426

do you feel this right ?

Thanks again ;)

This sound a little bit complicated but sort of logical :)

I think it's possible that the serial numbers on the boxes are created this way. I'll check that later with my games (I'm at work now ;) )
